n.d. 1938 [Montanaro] One of the Bookano pop-up book series that were published during the 1930s / 40s. There are 6 full colour pop-ups (giraffe, elephant & tiger, lions, buffalo, polar bears & seal and camel) and numerous black and white wood-cut illustrations on the other pages that take you through the animal kingdom, via the different animal categories. Richly illustrated covered boards (front and back, see photo) and backstrip. 44 pages (unpaginated); size 260 mm x 205 mm. What is particularly unusual about this particular copy is that it comes with the original box. This edition was also issued by Bookano under a different title: 'Bookano Zoo no. 1', a copy of which I also have for sale. Condition: Binding: Corners rubbed. Backstrip has been reinforced with archival tape. Interior: Browning to some pages - quite 'normal' for the Bookano series due to the type of paper used, otherwise Very good. Note: I have many other Bookano books for sale, together with other pop-ups. Please browse my Pop-up / Panorama / Movable catalogue. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
