A nicely presented edition of this classic adventure story that has been translated from the original German. This copy benefits from a highly decorative binding of brown cloth boards, black, green, silver and gilt decoration and lettering to boards and spine, with bevelled edges. Decorative yellow and white endpapers. Small bookseller stamp on front paste down: 'Heard & Sons, Truro'. Contains three chromolithographs [including frontispiece] and many more wood engraings, both full and part page. Catalogue of Warne books attached at the end of the text. Corners and top/tail rubbed, top/tail bumped. Personal inscription on front pastedown 1913. Some spotting to rear of frontispiece [not affecting front] otherwise clean contents. from Otto
