Coloured illustrations printed by Edmund Evans. Foreward by G. B. Harrison. Red cloth cover with pasted down coloured wood cut illustration on front and black on white title strip on spine. Green front and rear endpapers, also with wood-cut illustrations. Uncut page edges. 113 pages plus xii. Condition: Binding: Spine sunned and rubbed top and bottom. Some other marks to material. Tight. Faint pencil drawing (few centimeters) and crease to rear free end paper. Interior: Minor creasing to some of the plates. Dent and Sons Limited [1922] Hardcover Very Good Maxwell Armfield Contains 8 full colour plates, four of them being double page ilustrations, based upon the original tempura paintings and which themselves are intended to look like scenes from the play. Very fine illustrations. Presented with the full text of The Winter's Tale and seven pages of notes from Armfield on how he tackled the illustrations and the challenges. Very interesting and nicely presented. Maroon cloth binding with gilt titling to upper board and backstrip. 28x22 cm. 99 pp. Backstrip slightly sunned. Some brown spotting which is mainly confined to the prelims and the rear few unprinted pages. Price:
