	1	Hoffman, E.T.A.; Translated By Ralph Manheim; Illustrated By Maurice Sendak Nutcracker London The Bodley Head 1984 First Edition Decorative Cloth Fine Fine Jacket Maurice Sendak This book reflects and enhances the set and costume design that Sendak did for a ballet production of the Nutcracker in 1982. The aim of this particular production had been to move away from the traditional presentation of the Nutcracker and present something different but perhaps truer to the original story. You can tell from the characters in the illustrations that this was achieved. The Nutcracker story is here presented in words complemented by Sendak's wonderful illustrations. There is also an introduction by Sendak giving some of the background to the venture and also his insight into what he was trying to achieve - very interesting. Maurice Sendak won the Hans Christian Andersen Award for book illustration in 1970 and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for illustration in 1983. 102 pp. Blue grey cloth boards with blind embossed decoration to upper board and silve titling to upper board and backstrip. Full colour illustrated end papers. Fine condition with no faults or issues. DJ now protected in archival quality cover. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Price: 40.00 GBP

Charming tale of Ida who is babysitting for her sister who is kidnapped by the goblins, with an ice replica left in her place. Red cloth boards with gold lettering. This is in fine condition, the only problem is a small tear and crease to the dustjacket that has been mended with archival tape. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Price: 25.00 GBP
