London Birn Brothers 1945 First Edition Hardcover Very Good Wood, Lawson
16 full page colour illustrations, all typical Wood style, with subject matter ranging from monkeys to rabbits, ducks, bears, kittens and giraffes. Black and white wood cut illustrations on most of remaining pages. 83 pages: size: 29 x 22 cm. Condition: Some marks to paste down front cover illustration and it looks like it may have been re-pasted in parts in the past. Spine faded. Inscription on front free end paper. Front hinge starting. Interior: few fingerprints, othewise very good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

[1930] A boxed set of 6 animal character books written and illustrated by Lawson Wood. There are five Mr. book titles (Mr. Quack, Mr. Grunt, Mr. Prickles, Mr. Trunk, Mr. Fox) and one title from the Mrs. book series - Mrs. Purr. All titles fit into the box called 'The Hamper of Mr. Books. Each little booklet contains 12 pages (unpaginated) and is fully illustrated in colour and black / white / red on every page. The rear cover of each booklet has an advert for the latest Beatrix Potter book - The Tale of Little Pig Robinson - first published in 1930. The box is scuffed with one edge missing and some tape repair. The booklets are all very clean and in very good condition, having been protected by the box. 48mo - over 3" - 4" tall.
