London Ernest Nister 1905 First Edition Hardcover Very Good Arthur A. Dixon
There are six full page Nister chromolithographic plates and 70 other half tone illustrations. Chromolithographs printed in Bavaria. The linen backed hard cover has bevelled edges, the page edges are all gilt and the front and rear endpapers are nicely illustrated. This is one of the E.N. Illustrated Standard and Art Gift Books from Nister, which was a 'series of elegantly bound in cloth of good quality, printed on art paper.' [Hunt]. Condition: Binding: Very small tear to linen on front top corner and some of the illustration paint has rubbed off. The original owners name appears three times on the end papers / prelims. Interior: Two pages have dirty edges. Otherwise very good. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall.
