[1888] Hardcover Good + Constance Haslewood There are 18 full page chromolithographs, as well as full page chromos forming the frontispiece and title page. Each of the remaining of the 48 pages is adorned with typical Victorian illustrations either in chromolithography or sepia tones. The story line takes you through the seasons of the year and describes in poetry the different festivals, such as Valentine's Day, Palm Sunday and Christmas, and also describes the different traditions and customs that were prevalent in Victorian times, such as making and playing with Cowslip Balls, sweethearts playing forfeits and rowing on the river. Apart from the glorius illustrations by Constance Haslewood the text provides a wonderful insight into Victorian life and the customs of the day. Condition: Binding: Corners worn, edges rubbed.
