This volume contains an interpretation of 48 of La Fontaine's fables for children. There are 8 full page colour illustrations by Tilney. Hard to find in this 1913 edition, more common in the budget edition issued in the 1930's. Blue cloth binding with gilt embossing to upper board and backstrip. Paste down illustration to upper board. For those not familiar with la Fontaine, many of Aesop's fables were taken from the originals by la Fontaine and duly attributed to him. 18x13.5 cm. 126pp. Condition: Corners & top/tail of backstrip bumped. Minor marking to lower board. Personal inscription from 1919 on ffep.
