The story was originally serialised in Aunt Judy's magazine in 1873 but this version with the Wheelhouse illustrations was first published in 1909 and the illustrations are very much from that period showing country settings and village life and cottages. Very nice front and rear illustrated end papers. Blue cloth boards with cream illustration and titling to front and spine. Blue silk page marker ribbon. 307 pp. 18x13 cm. Corner, top / tail backstrip bumped. Backstrip sunned. Contents clean and bright.
