Contains 4 movable colour illustrated pages by Julian Wehr. Wehr created around 40 movable children's books in the 1940's, based upon a patent from 1940 that he held. His illustrations are bright and colourful and very appealing. The movable elements are tab operated and which generally cause the movement of four or five aspects of the illustration. The animations are relatively simple and unlike other movables that are based upon rivets or coils [such as Meggendorfer's], Wehr's movements rely entirely on paper and as a result can be somewhat delicate. This book contains four short stories, each with a movable colour page. In each story the characters are animals and toys that have come to life. There's a rather scary story about a kitten asleep on the train track as the train approaches - real nightmare stuff! Royal blue paper covered hardback with red plastic spiral binding. 20x26 cm. [24 pp]. Corners rubbed. Top/tail of spine bumped. First page coming away from spiral binding. Replacement tab to last movable. All movables complete and work fine.
