Contains 22 chromolithograph illustrations and numerous other line and monochrome illustrations. All concerned with animals, from farm animals to pets. Absolutely beautiful quality as you would expect from Nister. Text of verses and short stories, all about animals. Original floral end papers. Listed in Hunt. Printed in Bavaria. 310 x 285 mm; 66 pp. Corners, edges and backstrip worn. Small surface abrasion to top corner of upper board. Front and rear hinges cracked. Tear to rear free end paper which has been repaired. Staples rusty but complete. Occaisional short tear to page edge and page corner chip. One page is chipped and grubby for a 1 cm. band along two edges. First nine line drawings have been expertly hand coloured. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
