Ondrej Sekora Napipi the Chicken and His Friends / Kure Napipi a Jeho Pratele Prague Josef Hokr Very Good O. Sekora This Czech children's book was written and illustrated by Ondrej Sekora. It is a charming book, with 11 full page colour illustrations and black and white line illustrations on most of the 70 pages. The illustrations are all of children and animals, including: pigs, chickens, dogs, hedge hogs etc. The front cover (see photo) has a full size colour illustrated front board with yellow cloth backstrip and the front and rear end papers are also illustrated in full colour. For those not familiar with Sekora, he is very well known within the Czech Republic as an illustrator of children's books, particularly during the 1930s and 40s. As far as I am aware, his work has not been translated much outside of eastern Europe, which is a great shame as his illustrations are really wonderful and full of character. His work was commemorated on a Czech postage stamp in 1999. Condition: Binding: Original boards with very minor rubbing to edges and one worn corner to lower front. Clean with minimal marking for age. Interior: Handwritten inscription on Frontispiece, dated 1946,No browning, foxing or marks.
